I can't believe this past July our little baby turned 1 !!! Honestly, where does the time go. It seems like it was only yesterday I was holding my just born baby in my arms and cuddling her and now its already an year. It is time to celebrate a year full of fun, laughter, new learning and of-course being parents :-) We wanted the event to be a memorable one and when she grows up and sees the pics, it should make her happy. We knew exactly what we wanted, we designed and sourced the entire birthday.
We started planning well in advance as we didn't want to miss on anything and we wanted everything to be perfect. We gathered information from all our dear and near ones about what all goes into a birthday party and of-course there is google for the rest. We had the list ready that included number of guests, party hall, cake, catering, return gifts, decorations, event management and many more. For our dear daughter's birthday we decided it's going to be a animal themed party as she loves animals.
First of the things was to finalize the number of guests we were going to have because all other aspects depend on this. Since both my husband and me have huge friend circle and relatives we were sure the number is going to be more. After noting down the guest list, we figured out it was going to be around 250 people including kids. The main and most important task was done :-)
The next thing on the plate was to decide the venue of the party. On a weekend we set out on bike to search for party halls suitable for our requirements such as - party hall should not be very far from our home, should accommodate all the guests, the hall should be clean and tidy, parking should not be a concern for guests etc. We visited around 10 party halls on a single day and choose the one which matched most of our requirements.
Catering was the easiest of the job for us as our family has known a caterer for a long time now and we had complete faith on his food. Menu was mainly taken care by my husband.
Cake, also obviously had to be of animal theme. On suggestion from a friend we went for a famous baker and ordered for a huge cake with as many animals possible on it :-)
The most important thing was to choose the birthday girls dress. I had the whole rights in this ;-) I selected two dresses. One for the main event and one as a spare back up. We both as parents wanted to look different on the day so went for a completely new attire. We were curious till the date to know how we looked and how we were accepted but we were more than happy to see the response. ;-)
Spent some time on creating online invitation for the birthday bash based on the theme, got a great help from a team mate on this.
We wanted to get return gifts that all age kids could use and like. For the attraction of kids we called for a tattoo maker which was great hit. Girls got flowers, butterflies, smileys etc and boys had spider man, Chota Bheem, dragons etc. Kids just loved it.
Event management was taken care by my brother in law and his colleagues who did a great job. They kept the guests engaged for the whole time.
On the day we had everyone, our parents, our friends , our colleagues, our relatives. We were overwhelmed by the number of kids who turned up :-) Our lil daughter also co-operated and all went well and everything worked out as planned. We had great time planning, organizing, executing the whole event. It kept us so busy for 2 months, we don't know what to do now after its over. We were on cloud nine on the day after receiving positive feedback for our efforts. Loved and enjoyed every bit of it :-) It was the first BIG party we as a couple arranged and we have to pat ourselves on the back for this one!!!
